Rovers Fairytale Run Ends With Gallant Loss

Rovers league side's 5 game winning streak has ended in the Grand Final with a 16 point loss to the underfeated Railways. It has been a remarkable month for the team who came from the bottom position in the top 4 to beat Brigades and Towns to qualify for the GF. Once there, the teamwasn't contemp to finish runner up and took it to the red hot favourites in Railways. With captain Justin Crudeli leading from the front, Rovers put in a spirited performance and gave their opposition a big scare particularly in the final term when the margin whittled to just 11 points at one stage. Unfortunately the boys couldnt take out the flag but coach Jamie Campbell can be pleased with the sides efforts and can build on this next season.

In the reserves, Carl Flanagan was named reserves champion after a consistent season. In a tight finish for runner up that saw just 3 votes seperate the next 4 players, it was Mal Walley who finished second, a solitary vote in front of third placed Braiden Saul.
